Two hours a week with a PhD physicist.
A whole week of invisible support around them.
Math and Physics are what we do best. STO tutors high-school students one-on-one, online — at whatever level they need, up to AP, the level US college applications look for. We also train students for the SAT, the test used in US admissions and increasingly by colleges worldwide. The live hours are paid; everything around them is free — diagnostics, practice, planning, nudges — built on a growing, carefully analysed record of how your teenager learns.
We don’t sell hours. We sell learning per hour.
Most tutoring starts every session cold. STO walks in already knowing where your teenager stands — so every live minute goes into actual learning.
Your child, deeply understood
Every session and quiz builds a living picture of how your teenager learns — their gaps, strengths, and what makes things click. Each week starts where the last one truly ended.
Value-packed live hours
No warm-up, no “so what did you cover this week?” A pre-session diagnostic tells the tutor exactly where to begin — the paid time is pure, high-intensity teaching.
Help that has their back
Gentle nudges before the big test, a plan when things slip, and early preparation your teenager barely notices happening. Students feel supported — never surveilled.
One week with STO
Two live hours, and a quiet machine around them. You pay for the live hours only.
The setup
An AI summary of your teenager’s recent work — sessions, practice, quizzes — briefs the tutor on exactly where they stand. Session content is designed around it — for this student, this week.
The session
One-on-one with the tutor, working right at the edge of your teenager’s ability — where real learning happens. Nothing wasted.
The follow-through
Targeted practice and quizzes, a short summary from tutor and student, and a plan for the week ahead. Parents get a light regular digest.
Where we’re excellent
Mathematics & Physics
From school level to the toughest AP courses — taught from first principles by an educator who believes understanding beats memorising, every time.
Current AP offerings: AP Physics 1 · AP Physics 2 · AP Physics C · AP Precalculus · AP Calculus AB · AP Calculus BC
Also at home in Cambridge A Levels and IB.
SAT Preparation
Cohorts of 8, 12, or 16 weeks — and short workshops — timed to your chosen test date: fine-tuning skills already learnt, tips and tricks, and live practice. Diagnostic-driven, not a generic syllabus.
The best time to start? 9th grade.
When a student joins us in 9th grade, we can do far more than tutor — we teach, develop, and mentor. Four years is time to slowly build the skills that matter most, and are increasingly in demand: critical thinking and structured reasoning from first principles. The academics fall into place along the way — foundations without cramming, AP when your teenager is ready, the SAT as a finishing step. By application season they’re not just prepared; they’re developed. Every later entry point works; the 9th-grade start is the full experience.
Simple, honest pricing
$50/hour average — two live hours a week, billed monthly. Everything between sessions is free. (SAT/AP work sits slightly above the average, school-level work slightly below.)
Ongoing tutoring
2 live hours/week, week after week — about $400/month. The full support layer included, at no extra cost.
SAT Workshop
Cohorts of 8, 12, or 16 weeks, 2 live hours/week, timed to your test date — roughly $800–$1,600. Short workshops also available.
Compare: experienced AP-level STEM and SAT specialists in the US typically charge $80–160/hour.
An educator, first and last
STO is founded and taught by NP — a PhD in Physics and a lifelong educator who has spent years tutoring US high-school students, with students and parents who stay, succeed, and refer their friends.
The teaching philosophy is simple: every student is different, and real learning happens in the zone of desirable difficulty — the job of a great tutor is to keep a student working in that zone, interested and confident, never overwhelmed. Along the way, STO works to instill the things that outlast any test: critical thinking, first-principles reasoning, and genuine confidence.
We work with real teenagers — busy, last-minute, wonderfully overconfident — and we design for them, not for the imaginary perfect student.

“The Physics lessons were very deep and thorough, and they helped me more with the conceptual ideas behind topics like dynamics, rotational motion, and energy.”

Trust, engineered in
Teenagers are delicate flowers — and they can smell surveillance a mile away. STO is built so that students and parents both like how it works.
Students are talked with, never about. If there’s difficult news, your teenager is part of the telling — it always arrives with a diagnosis and a recovery plan, never as a bare report.
No hidden channels. Students know exactly what parents can and cannot see, from day one. Parents get a light, regular digest — so nothing ever arrives as a dramatic surprise.
Privacy by design. Sessions are captured as text transcripts only — no audio or video is stored. Everything is consented to clearly at enrollment, in plain English.
No unethical shortcuts, ever. Our larger goal is a genuinely developed young adult — critical thinking, first-principles reasoning, real confidence. College outcomes follow from that; we never game the process.
Start with a free diagnostic session
A short quiz and a relaxed conversation. You get an honest readout of where your teenager stands — whatever you decide afterwards. No pressure, no sales script.
